Mr Perrottet has indicated he is in favour of junking the isolation period for COVID-19 close contacts – at the right time.
It comes after NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard appeared to dismiss the prospect of that happening any time soon.
“My view is we need to get to a point where if you are sick, you stay at home, if you are not sick, you go to work or you go to school,” Mr Perrottet said.
National Cabinet is awaiting on a response from the AHPPC to a proposal for removing the isolation requirements for close contacts.
Mr Perrottet said Mr Hazzard’s job would be to advocate for the best health outcomes, but that would need to be balanced with education and economic needs.
“Mr Hazzard will have an opinion, and knowing Brad, probably a very strong one,” he said.
